SELF Inc., which stands for Strengthening and Empowering Lives and Futures, is the largest provider of emergency housing services for single individuals in Philadelphia. With over 40 years of service, SELF Inc. offers a range of programs, including affordable housing, permanent supportive housing, and transitional housing for youth.

In this episode, Dr. Dash shares her journey from working in child welfare to leading SELF Inc. She highlights the unique challenges faced by youth experiencing homelessness and the innovative programs SELF Inc. has developed to address these needs. One such program is Ms. Barbara’s House, a transitional housing program named in honor of Dr. Dash’s mother. This program provides not only housing but also support services such as financial literacy, employment readiness, and peer counseling.
